Who we are
UnburdenMe (unburdenme.co.uk) is run by UnburdenMe. If you have any questions about this notice or your information, contact us at hello@UnburdenMe.co.uk.
What this site does with what you type
When you press a button such as Unburden Me, Summarise or Create priority summary, the text you've entered is sent to a small service we run, and from there to Google's Gemini AI service, which writes the reply. We don't keep a copy of what you send or what comes back. We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't ask for your name or email address.
Because your text goes to Google, please don't enter passwords, bank or card details, medical records, or anything else you wouldn't want a third party to see. The free version of Google's service may use what is sent to improve its products. The "Hide names or private details" option swaps the words you list for placeholders on your device before anything is sent. It only hides the exact words you list, so please check your text before you press go.
What is stored on your device
Your to-do list, any notes you choose to save, and (if you leave it switched on) your last 10 results are kept in your browser's own storage, on your device only. We can't see them. Clearing your browser data, or using the delete button below, removes them.
Other services involved
- Cloudflare runs the small service that passes your text to Google. It may record technical details such as your IP address for security and to limit misuse.
- Google (Gemini) receives your text in order to write the response.
- GitHub hosts this website and may record technical details of visits.
- Google Fonts supplies the site's typefaces, which means Google can see your IP address when the page loads.
- cdnjs supplies small tools for reading Word and PDF files. They are only loaded if you attach one of those file types, and the file is read on your device.
We don't use advertising, tracking or analytics tools of our own, and we don't set cookies of our own.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal information, including to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. Since we don't keep what you type, most of your information is on your own device and in the control of the services listed above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Not a counselling service
UnburdenMe helps you organise and communicate. It isn't counselling, medical, legal or financial advice. If you need someone to talk to, Samaritans are free on 116 123, any time. In an emergency, call 999.
Changes
